6. Teachings
Weapons of Warfare
By Pastor Wayne Fox
The world we live in is an aggressive place filled with anger, deceit and a fierce competition. Men run over the backs of fellow countrymen to gain no matter size of the prize. Christians are mostly taught to be passive, gentle, kind and, unfortunately, doormats for the strong. Our excuse is often that these carnal beasts are just acting like the world has taught them. They are supposed to act sinful. In the “world” (as if we don't live there), some will say, “One must be all of these things in order to survive the craftiness of carnal men.”
The body of Christ
Alternatively, we find Christians acting the same way while operating in the world. They will fight and claw their way to the top. They will often deceive and steal in the name of Christ. I have met countless Christians who deny their fellow skilled believers to work on their stuff or give them service. I'm told, and I have experienced this to be true, that Christians often do inferior work at premium prices. Many “worldly” business men have told me they avoid hiring Christians if they are very open about their faith because they will spend most of their time at work talking to people about Jesus.
In my inexperience when I first got saved, I thought Christians never asked for sick days off unless they were really sick. This was one of those fantasies that new Christians believe until they learn the fine art of hypocrisy. When I became a manager, I found Christians who regularly scheduled to utilize all the sick days offered by the company throughout the year, even when they were not sick.
Observe how people often act toward one another within the Body of Christ. One might think, “If this is love then please hate me.” Maybe they are displaying the anger they feel inside as they walk around trying to portray the image of Christ. But they hate every minute of the abuse they receive. The result of this is penned up frustration from the mistreatment of Christians by fellow Christians. After all, we know they are going to roll over and act “saintly” when we don't retaliate.
