Gauging your relationship with God

Relationships have great influence in our lives. Some relationships bring life, healing, and encouragement to us. They inspire us to pursue our visions, dreams, and get us back on track whenever we get distracted. But other relationships divert us from our purpose in life leading to our downfall. Our relationship with God has the greatest influence in our lives. God is interested in revealing Himself to us, but He can only do so as we allow Him. We all relate to God at any one of these four levels: acquaintance, casual, close, and intimate. It is essential for vessels of honor to gauge their relationship with God and also understand that God wants to relate with them at the intimate level.

1. An Acquaintance Relationship

At this level, people have very basic knowledge of their acquaintances. These are people who first met in some type of setting or were introduced to each other by a friend. They may only get to know each other's names, occupation, where they work or live based on how they met. Usually, they may not remember much about their acquaintances other than recognizing their familiar faces if they ever met them again. This type of relationship is quite loose and may end up dying if not nurtured.
