Present a Living Sacrifice
By Dr. Armstrong Cheggeh
Continued from last month...
What we do with our physical bodies now will count for eternity. Our brother Paul tells us, “ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in this body, whether good or bad ,” (2 Corin. 5: 10). We, therefore, need to present our bodies as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1). What we do with our bodies should honor and glorify His Name. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is, “ Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God ,” (1 Corin. 10: 31).
Christ paid a dear price for our lives; thus we should honor the LORD with our bodies. “ Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's ,” (1 Corin. 6: 19 - 20).
Possessions
Another aspect of offering sacrifices to the LORD is in our possessions. Jesus taught us of the need to love the LORD with our strength. “ And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment, ” (Mark 12: 30).
Loving the LORD with our strength means worshipping Him with our abilities and property. Nothing should be too good or great for the service of the King. Spiritual maturity demands that the love of God and His kingdom become the most important things in our lives. When Christ is the LORD of our lives, then all should be available to Him at any given time. What things do you count dear to your heart? Are they available to the Master?
